About the team
What we do
The team can administer intravenous antibiotics at home, monitor the trajectory of an acutely unwell child or young person and provide extra support to families.
The team also has a community midwife jaundice pathway. Following a strict criteria, community midwives can refer jaundiced babies they see in the community directly to the team, rather than sending them to the Emergency Department. We assess the baby at home which involves; examination and observations, taking bloods and educating parents. If treatment is required and it is appropriate, we can set up a bili blanket in the home.
