We offer a range of support which may include one or more of the following:

Assessment

Where appropriate we carry out detailed assessment to explore children and young people’s speech, language and social communication skills at school and at home. Following an assessment we write a report to summarise our findings which is shared with parents/carers, the school and other professionals involved in your child’s care.

Interventions

We aim to assist parents, teachers and support staff in schools to develop ways of helping children and young people learn to communicate more effectively in everyday learning and social situations. We also provide support and training to schools to help them develop an inclusive communication environment for all pupils. We may do this in one or more of the following ways:
  • Advice for teachers and teaching assistants
  • Advice and training for parents and opportunities for them to observe sessions run the Speech and Language Therapist
  • Demonstrating activities and strategies to school staff
  • Working directly with individual children and young people or in small groups

Some children and young people with complex needs may also be seen by Specialist Speech and Language Therapists for support with feeding and/or AAC.
