About the team

The Children’s Community Nursing (CCN) Generalist Team is part of The Whittington Health NHS Trust and is based at the Northern Health Centre in the London Borough of Islington.
 
The CCN Generalist Team is a large, friendly, very skilled team of experienced paediatric nurses and support workers. They work collaboratively with community and allied health care professionals in Islington, for example: Speech and Language Therapists, Dieticians, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Special Educational Needs Schools, CAMHS. Community and Hospital based paediatricians and GPs. The nursing team see children and young people in the home as well as at community sites such as: hospitals, health centres, schools, children’s centres and local authority sites.

The team support children and young people with both short and long term conditions, the nurses’ offer services related to the following:
  • Cardiac
  • Completing Blood Sampling and Blood Pressure
  • Constipation
  • Eczema
  • Endocrinology
  • Feeding Support
  • IV antibiotics
  • Nephrology
  • Oncology
  • Orthopaedics
  • Renal
  • Respiratory
  • Rheumatology
  • Wound dressings

Scope of service

The CCN Generalist service operates in the borough of Islington and the child must have an Islington GP to be eligible for this service.

The service is open 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 4pm on weekends.

Eczema Nurse Specialist Service

The Eczema Nurse Specialist is a Nurse Practitioner and prescriber who holds a monthly Eczema clinic at the Northern Health Centre in Islington.
 
The purpose of this service is to support children and young people to better manage their eczema. The Nurse Practitioner works closely with hospital and community health care professionals in order to support children and young people in the community.
