Ms Elly Baker
Biography
Elly has had specialist training and experience in Renal Nursing. This led to her developing a special interest in diabetes management, after caring for patients with diabetes undergoing haemodialysis. She will be starting an MSc course in diabetes at Roehampton University in October 2002.
Elly’s main role is to provide care for people with diabetes. She works in the outpatients, on the wards and provides cover to the Emergency Department. She specialises in acute diabetic care for patients admitted to hospital. She also acts as a specialist resource nurse. In this role, she provides advice, support and teaching in diabetes to health professionals. She organises Professional Nurse Study Days in Diabetes at The Whittington Hospital, attended by hospital nurses, Practice Nurse and Community Nursing staff.
