COPD team collect their commendation

Myra Stern and Louise Restrick, consultant chest physicians, and Helen Broomfield, head of chronic respiratory service, led the COPD team at the awards on Thursday 6 December. During the President’s Reception at the QE II centre, in London, they received their commendation for the extensive services they have been developing for the past six years. Their forward thinking and expanding services have included chronic respiratory support, early discharge and palliative care services and a close and crucial relationship with London Ambulance Service. A 24 hour, every day, non-invasive ventilation service has also been introduced to patients and is proving to be remarkably successful.
The efforts of the COPD team will be appearing in a book of good practice, another arena within which the Whittington Hospital will be recognised as a centre of excellence.
