Chandrima Biswas

Chandrima Biswas
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Chandrima has been a consultant obstetrician at Whittington Health since 2008. She specialises in high-risk obstetric care and has previously held the post of Clinical Director at the Trust. She is also the Lead Obstetrician for perinatal quality for the North Central London Integrated Care System, and part of the senior team at the National Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigations programme, focusing on maternity care. Chandrima is a former president of the Maternity and Newborn Forum at the Royal Society of Medicine and is editor-in-chief of DK’s ‘The Pregnancy Encyclopaedia’.

Benjamin Black

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Mr Benjamin Black is the obstetric lead for the labour ward and runs the specialist service for surgical miscarriage and abortion care. Mr Black is focussed on providing person centred care and maximising choice at every step of the patient journey. Mr Black is a specialist advisor to Médecins Sans Frontières on sexual, reproductive and maternal healthcare for populations in times of crisis and was a member of the expert panel for the inquiry into racial injustice in UK maternity care.

Charlotte Cassis

Miss Charlotte Cassis is an obstetrician and gynaecologist with specialist interests in menopause, urogynaecology (pelvic floor health) and psychosexual medicine. She runs a specialist pelvic floor antenatal and postnatal clinic.
She is the obstetric lead for maternity triage as well as being joint lead for multidisciplinary simulation teaching.

Charlotte Depoers-Beal

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Charlotte joined the team at the Whittington Hospital in November 2023. She specialises in high-risk pregnancies including diabetes. She has a special interest in Fetal and Maternal Medicine. She runs a specialist clinic where she looks after pregnant women with pre-existing medical problems. She is focused on developing, together with the specialist high-risk midwife, a clinic where patients with hypertensive problems will receive specialist care. She also coordinates simulations within PROMPT training for staff.

Dhanuson Dharmasena

Dhanuson Dharmasena
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with special interest in Urogynaecology  
Mr Dharmasena has been a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Whittington hospital since 2021. He specialises in urogynaecology and Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) and is one of three consultants that form the tertiary chronic UTI clinic. He is also the lead for Women’s Health and Maternity Services Clinical Guidelines Committee. Mr Dharmasena is a member of the Whittington Hospital Charity Advisory Group committee and oversees the rota for junior doctors within the department.

Consultant Gynaecologist with a special interest in colposcopy and vulval disorders

Theresa Freeman-Wang is the joint Cervical Screening Programme Lead at the Whittington and a member of the National Cervical Screening colposcopy practice group (CPG). Theresa is currently President of the British Society for colposcopy and cervical pathology (BSCCP) and Secretary-General of the international federation of cervical pathology and colposcopy (IFCPC).

Irene Gafson

Irene GafsonConsultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Irene has a special interest in preterm birth prevention and perinatal mental health. She runs a specialist antenatal clinic together with the specialist mental health midwife. She helps to deliver the outpatient hysteroscopy service as a gynaecological specialism. She is keen educationalist and is the lead for UCL medical students on placement in Women’s Health.

Harry Gibson

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with Specialist Interest In Maternal Medicine
Harry Gibson is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with a specialist interest in maternal medicine. He is lead for the maternal medicine service at the Whittington. Alongside a multi-disciplinary team consisting of midwives, physicians fetal medicine specialists and anaesthetists, he cares for women and birthing people who are pregnant and have medical disorders. His other roles include lead for maternity research programmes and for maternity digital transformation. Outside the Whittington, Harry organises the London Obstetric Medicine Group, an educational forum for London clinicians who work in the maternal medicine field.

Kiren Gill

Miss Kiren Gill has a specialist interest in urogynaecology, the pelvic floor and recurrent and chronic urinary tract infection (UTI).  She sees patients with problems with prolapse, lower urinary tract symptoms including incontinence, urogenital symptoms of the menopause and general gynecological concerns.  Miss Gill has an academic interest in recurrent and chronic UTI.

Rajvinder Khasriya

Unit Lead for Gynaecological Oncology, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Sangeeta has been working at the Whittington Hospital since 2018 as the lead for Gynaecology Oncology. Her expertise includes open and minimal access surgery, colposcopy and operative hysteroscopy. She is also the lead for Women’s Health and Maternity Services Clinical Guidelines Committee (MCGC). Ms Khinder is passionate about patient safety and experience and is an advocate for women’s choice.

 

Anna Lawin - O'Brien

Anna Lawin - O'BrienConsultant in Obstetrics, Subspecialist Fetal and Maternal Medicine
Anna provides fetal medicine care in the Fetal Medicine unit on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
She is also the College Tutor for obs and gynae and provides training support for our trainees and non-training doctors as well as ensuring pastoral care.
Together with our Clinical Governance Team, she supports the processes around clinical investigations, liaises with colleagues and parents, and works on the maternity data reporting as lead for Obstetric Clinical Governance.

Tamica Lawrence

Tamica undertakes minimally invasive gynaecological surgery and has a special interest in endometriosis. She also runs general gynaecology, antenatal and rapid access clinics. She is heavily involved in the Pan London laparoscopic simulation training course for future gynaecological surgeons and is a keen simulation trainer.

Amali Lokugamage
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Dr Amali Lokugamage has been a long-standing advocate in respectful maternity care, human rights in healthcare, equality/diversity and decolonisation. She is an honorary associate professor, at the Institute of Women’s Health, UCL and also a member of the maternal and neonatal advisory group for the NHS Race and Health Observatory. Dr Lokugamage has authored two books on birth and a multitude of academic papers and chapters. As a senior medical educator she has won several educational awards. She founded the Whittington maternity acupuncture service in 2005.

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist - Lead clinician in Colposcopy and Vulval service

Michelle initially studied in Cape Town, South Africa and then subsequently completed her speciality training in London. She has worked in many busy hospitals including St Thomas’, Croydon and Chelsea and Westminster. Michelle is trained in gynaecology ultrasound and runs one stop rapid access clinics. She also delivers outpatient hysteroscopy clinics and is passionate about streamlining systems and processes to create the best possible patient experience. Michelle is also a keen Obstetrician and works with the team to create positive birth experiences for our patients.

Kirsten Vogt

Kirsten Vogt
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist - specialising in early pregnancy
Kirsten is one of our consultants who specialises in early pregnancy complications and gynaecology emergencies. She mainly works in our WDU (Women's Diagnostic Unit) alongside our team of specialist nurses and other consultants, seeing women presenting with pain and concerns. Kirsten also works in the Antenatal Clinic and runs a specialist gynaecology and recurrent miscarriage clinic.

Guldzhan Vorona

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Guldzhan is devoted to the well-being of her patients, ensuring they are met with understanding and are provided with strategies that address their health concerns, whether they visit for routine checks or more complex procedures.  Guldzhan has a special interest in fibroids and endometriosis, having completed a PhD in Fibroid care and also running an Endometriosis clinic. She is committed to educating others and is a faculty member and an examiner for the Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgical Education and Assessment Programme, working nationally and internationally to equip the next generation of doctors with substantial surgical expertise.
