Many simple foot or nail conditions can be self’ treated, either by you, a relative, carer or friend.
Please note that the NHS does not provide treatment for the following conditions:
- Nail Cutting – this is a social need, like brushing your teeth. This can be done by you, a relative, carer or friend or by visiting a nail bar or high street podiatrist.
- Verruca – treatment for verruca is available form a pharmacist or private podiatrist.
- Corns and Calluses - the NHS do not provide treatment for corns or calluses unless there is a medical condition that directly impacts on foot health. You can visit a private podiatrist or nail salon on the high street.
- Fungal Nail Infection – the ONLY treatment option we offer is nail surgery. Fungal nail treatment is available from a pharmacist or via your GP.
Please see our advice leaflets below on self-managing basic foot conditions, including nail cutting.
