Radiotherapy

Radiotherapy uses high-energy rays, like x-rays to treat cancer by destroying cells in that area. Normal cells can also be damaged but they can usually repair themselves, unlike cancer cells that cannot.

 

If your doctor offers you radiotherapy we will refer you to one of our partner hospitals UCLH or Royal Free for radiotherapy planning and scheduling. We do not have radiotherapy machines at the Whittington hospital.

 

You can still be referred back to the Whittington following your radiotherapy for any subsequent treatments or follow up and recovery care.
