Whittington Supervisor of Midwives Team wins award

A team of midwives at Whittington Health has won London’s Supervisory Team of the Year Award.
The award was made by the local supervising authority for London (London LSA) – the organisation responsible for the effective supervision of midwives in London.
The team was given the award for a project enabling partners and companions of new mums to stay overnight on The Whittington Hospital’s postnatal Cellier Ward. The project is the first of its kind in inner London.
Since its introduction, staff at the ward have received positive feedback from mothers and their partners about their experiences on the ward.
The Whittington supervisor of midwives’ team is made up of experienced midwives who have undertaken additional training to support, guide and supervise midwives and new mums at the hospital.
This is the second accolade the team has won this year. In July, the team was presented with the Courage Award at the Islington Nurses Awards run by the Islington Clinical Commissioning Group.
