Full story

Planned industrial action by junior doctors is due to go ahead on Wednesday 6 April.

In the event that the strike is not called off, junior doctors in England will be offering emergency care only for 48 hours from 8.00am on Wednesday 6 April until Friday 9 April.

We will deliver emergency care

We have a clear plan in place that will allow us to continue to deliver safe care to our patients. We will continue to provide urgent and emergency care to patients throughout the strike.

We are working hard to keep any outpatient or clinic cancellations to a minimum, although some appointments and planned operations will have been rescheduled to ensure we that we have enough doctors available to look after our emergency patients.

We encourage anyone with an appointment or planned operation due to take place during the potential strike action who is unsure about whether they should still attend, to contact the service for further information.

If you become unwell during the strike and aren’t sure what to do, NHS England has also issued advice to patients. You can find it here .
