The chaplaincy team aims to provide care for the whole person: illness or injury affects not only the physical well-being of a person but their whole lives in a variety of ways. Coming into hospital is often stressful and sometimes frightening. Whatever the circumstances, the chaplain or chaplaincy volunteer is there to listen and give support in a variety of ways.

This can involve:
  • Talking through issues concerned with faith, fear and doubt
  • Praying with patients and/or their families or friends
  • Bringing Holy Communion to patients who request it
  • Anointing and Laying on of Hands at times of acute illness
  • Hearing confessions

Further Information

Hospital chaplains
Hospital chaplains are here to care for the spiritual, pastoral and religious needs of all patients, staff and relatives of all faiths and none. The chaplaincy team can be contacted using the details below.

The chaplaincy team, supported by the chaplaincy volunteers, visits the hospital wards daily. Our team includes chaplains of different faith traditions to reflect the range of beliefs in this community.

Anglican and Roman Catholic Services are held regularly in the Chapel, which is on Level 3 of the Kenwood Wing.

The multi-faith room, also on level 3 of the Kenwood Wing, is available for all other faiths. Muslim prayers are said here on Fridays.

If you would like to be a chaplaincy volunteer, please visit the voluntary services page for information on how to join.
