Our emergency department assesses and treats people with serious or life threatening emergency needs.
 
If you urgently need medical help or advice, you think it's not life-threatening situation and you don't know where to turn, call 111. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
 
For less urgent health needs, contact your GP or local pharmacist in the usual way.
24 hours per day, 365 days per year (no change over Christmas and New Year)

Helpline

Call the NHS 111 service or visit their website if you need medical help quickly, but it’s not a 999 emergency.
 
Calls to NHS 111 are free from landlines and mobile phones.

Your local pharmacy

They can advise on minor illnesses, headaches, stomach upsets and bites and stings. There is a scheme for the socially vulnerable on low incomes to receive free treatments through their pharmacy – currently available in Camden Haringey and Islington, coming soon to Barnet and Enfield.

All London boroughs offer evening and weekend appointments.

Abuse of Staff
 
The Trust ensures that all the staff working in the emergency department are able to carry out their roles safe in the knowledge that the Trust operates a ‘zero tolerance’ to any form of verbal or physical abuse.
 
Any member of the public, patient or relative will be prosecuted if they act in a manner likely to cause distress or harm to staff.
