Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) - Introduction
This annual reporting process allows the Trust to compare the experiences of staff from Black and Minority Ethnic Groups (BME) compared to white staff. The WRES has been mandated by NHS England by the Standard NHS Contract.
 
Within the WRES are nine core indicators that the Trust collates and publishes information on its performance. Within the reports are actions plans for addressing areas of improvement.
 
The nine indicators are:
 
  • Representation of clinical and non-clinical staff in pay bands.
  • Relatively likelihood of white applicants being appointed from shortlisting across all posts compared to BME applicants.
  • Relative likelihood of BME staff entering the formal disciplinary process compared to white staff.
  • Relative likelihood of white staff accessing non-mandatory training and continuous professional development compared to BME staff.
  • Percentage of staff experiencing harassment, bullying or abuse from patients, relatives or the public in the last 12 months.
  • Percentage of staff experiencing harassment, bullying or abuse from staff in the last 12 months.
  • Percentage of staff believing that Trust provides equal opportunities for career progression or promotion, Percentage of staff personally experiencing discrimination at work from a manager/team leader or other colleagues.
  • BME board membership.
