DFSRH/NFSRH Clinical experience and assessment
We offer the following practical trainings sessions:
  • DFSRH: Diploma for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare
  • NDFSRH: Diploma for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare
  • LoC SDI: Letter of Competence in Sub-dermal Contraceptive Implant Techniques
  • LoC IUT: Letter of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques

Course of 5 Assessments

Venue: Sexual Health Centre, St Ann’s Hospital, St Ann’s Road, Haringey, N15 3TH
 Course of 5 is a one day clinical assessment

Aims of the C5 : provides an opportunity to
  • practise and demonstrate practical skills required for the provision of contraception and testing of STIs
  • develop increased awareness of the way that personal attitudes, gender, sexual preference and cultural differences impact on SRH consultations in a safe environment
  • identify areas where further learning is required before proceeding to clinical assessments

STIF Foundation and STIF Plus
This is a two day theoretical STIF course 
Delegates must have basic knowledge, skills and attitudes for the effective management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Delegates are required to complete the appropriate modules in e-Learning for Health before attending. This will entail approx. 8 hours of study This is a multi-disciplinary course and applications are invited from:

  • Doctors and nurses working in general practice
  • GUM clinic staff
  • Health Advisers
  • Secondary care clinicians
  • Pharmacists
  • School Nurses.
This comprehensive course comprises a mix of lectures, workshops and teaching stations.

We also offer the following update sessions to health professionals interested in sexual health and contraception.

Fitters Forum
 
This Forum is intended for practitioners already holding the Letter of Competence in IUD fitting/removal (LoC IUD) as awarded by the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare. The intention is that information on new developments update and case studies are discussed at this quarterly forum held at Hornsey Central. Those interested to attend email wwh-tr.infocash@nhs.net to express an interest to attend.

Contraception Update

These update session’s takes place yearly and is designed for clinicians who are already practicing within the field of Contraception & Sexual Health. The update is designed and presented by practicing Sexual Health clinicians, in order to reflect new developments, emerging issues and training needs within the field and discussion on cases.

Areas covered will include:

  • Update in Combined Oral Contraception
  • Emergency Contraception
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections
  • IUD/IUS
  • Problem Bleeding
  • Case discussions

Contraception Update for Practice Nurses and Pharmacist

This session for practice nurses who are interested in sharing information on learning about contraception issues.
Learning outcomes include:
  • To be aware of current contraceptive methods, mode of action, contra-indications, risks and benefits
  • To have the basic knowledge to enable discussion of contraceptive options

HIV Update for General Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Pharmacist
 
This is to update knowledge in response developments in treatments enabling people with HIV to live longer and healthier lives.
It is currently estimated that around one third of people with HIV are unaware of their HIV status, with prejudice and stigma causing a barrier to accessing appropriate services.
