Full story

Whittington Health hosted its first cancer care conference to commemorate World Cancer Day.

Designed to help those affected by cancer to live longer, healthier lives, the event saw over 50 patients and their families come together to find out more about the support and information available following a cancer diagnosis.

The event, which was hosted by Whittington Health’s team of specialist cancer nurses and Tracey Palmer, Macmillan Information Manager, saw attendees take part in a range of workshops and talks including laughter therapy, nutritional and exercise advice.

Speaking about the event, Karen Philips, MacMillan Lead Cancer Nurse at Whittington Health, said: “We are incredibly proud to have organised our first cancer care conference. It was fantastic to see so many people coming together today to join us. Our cancer service doesn’t just focus on medical treatment, we provide support groups, activity sessions and health and beauty workshops all designed to support people throughout their cancer journey. We hope build on the success of our conference to make it an annual event on a bigger scale.”

The cancer care conference was sponsored by Macmillan Cancer Support.
