We speak another language at home

We work with interpreters as required for children and their families.

If your child users and/or understands two or more languages this is known as Bilingualism.  Being bilingual does not cause language difficulties.

We advise that parents use the language they are most natural and comfortable with.  This will give your child the best role model of language. Therefore, we recommend that you continue to use your home language.

If your child has a difficulty with English but not with their home language then this would not be considered a language difficulty and your child would not need to be seen by our speech and language therapy service for their language development.

If you are concerned that your child has a difficulty in both of their languages then please click here ‘Accessing our service’ to see how your child can access our service.
