HRA approval
The Health Research Authority (HRA) was established to protect and promote the interests of patients and the public in health research and to simplify the regulation of
HRA approval is for all project based research involving the NHS and Health and Social Care (HSC) that is being led from England; and brings together the HRA’s assessment of governance and legal compliance (including radiation and pharmacy) with the independent ethical opinion by a Research Ethics Committee (REC) where applicable. Once HRA approval is in place sites must confirm they have capacity and capability to open the study and the sponsor give the ‘green light’ for the study to be able to start.
