The service is for people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

The Islington Community COPD team offers specialist nursing advice and support for people with COPD. The team runs two Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programmes in Islington situated in the south and central of the borough. For more information please contact your practice nurse or GP.

Services provided include:

Disease Management:
Helping people to maximize their treatment for COPD, including starting antibiotic and steroid therapy and reviewing and titrating medication. If you are unable to attend a clinic appointment you can be seen at home.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation:
This provides a support system for the self-management of those with COPD and includes patient education, exercise training and psychosocial support over 8 weeks. The programme is led by a Respiratory Specialist Physiotherapist with the support of a multi-disciplinary team.

Breathe Easy Group:
The team maintains strong links with the British Lung Foundation and patient support groups, in particular the Breathe Easy Groups in Islington.

Stop Smoking Service:
The team works in partnership with the NHS Islington Stop Smoking Service.
