What Our Patients Say About Us

Exceptional service from people who genuinely care

April 2016

I self-referred to the Whittington on the recommendation of a friend and am so very, very glad that I did!  I received amazing pre-natal and post-natal care at all stages of my pregnancy and birth. The teams are kind, knowledgeable and conscientious. I was always treated as a valued individual and with complete courtesy and respect.

The midwives at the birth centre and on the labour ward were tireless in helping me and my son learn to breastfeed. I don't think I could have managed to breastfeed without this assistance and would probably have ended up putting my son on formula, something I really did not want to have to do.

The staff at the Whittington really give the impression that they are there by vocation, not there just to do a 'job'. I was never made to feel like I was a 'pain' or that they couldn't be bothered to help me properly, which is how I have been made to feel at other London hospitals.

I really cannot recommend the Whittington maternity teams enough. I cannot fault the service or care I received. All of the midwives, doctors and staff went above and beyond the provision of their roles in my opinion.

I would not hesitate to self-refer to the Whittington again in future should I become pregnant again.

A huge thank you to all of the many staff who made my pregnancy and birth experience as calm, straight-forward and stress-free as it could possibly have been!

Excellent care

February 2016

My daughter had her appendix removed on Saturday evening at the Whittington. The care she received was second to none from when we arrived in A&E, the surgical team, the anaesthetic team and the staff on Ifor Ward.

Post op the nurses and foundation surgical doctor really helped a very frightened 9yr old through a stressful time.

In A&E the surgical team explained everything thoroughly to us. The nurses constantly reassured my daughter and were fabulous.

What an impressed service!

"The nursing staff was fantastic, kept me calm before the actual surgery, made sure I knew what was going to happen. Anesthetists explained what they doing as they were doing it."

"I can't praise the staff at the Whittington enough for my care through my pregnancy and birth. After a traumatic time in a hospital in Canada with poor care post delivery, I was worried about what would happen after a 3rd c section in a British hospital. It was because of the reassurance and expertise of the staff in the Labour Ward and the caring attitude of the anaesthetist and surgeon amongst others that made the surgery bearable and I was able to enjoy the birth of my daughter. The aftercare in Celliers Ward was also very good and who cares if the ward itself is a little dated, it's the people that count and they were wonderful. Thank you so much to the staff in those wards."

"From start to finish my care was compassionate and exceptional. The nurses/students/doctors/anesthestists/consultants all made me feel at ease and comfortable. I was particularly touched that some of the team came back to spend time with me to see how I was feeling. I would never go for treatment anywhere else. I cannot thank the staff enough."
