Children's Community Physiotherapy Service (Islington)
Whittington Health has a team of more than 11 children’s physiotherapists.
We provide a high standard of assessment and treatment across all the specialties in both the acute (hospital premises) and the community setting (Islington). We provide family-centred and holistic care.
All of our paediatric physiotherapy services are in line with government initiatives and national service frameworks, including Every Child Matters and NICE clinical guidelines, to provide the most effective service for our children and families.
Most of our physiotherapists are members of the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists and regularly attend and run courses for this special interest group.
Hospital based services
Our acute team is based at the Whittington Hospital where we have direct access to the paediatric Inpatient unit and the Neonatal Unit.
We assess and treat children with a wide range of physical problems and conditions caused by illness, injury or disability including:
- neurological conditions
- chest conditions
- orthopaedic conditions
- rheumatology conditions
The majority of outpatient physiotherapy is provided by our Community Teams.
Community based services
Our Islington community team is based at the Northern Health Centre and at Richard Cloudsley Special Schools.
